Privacy Policy

Road-Signs.work is a free tool for generating public-domain road and street sign images. There are no user accounts, and we collect as little as we can while still understanding how the site is used.
What we collect
First-party usage analytics
When you view a page or use an export button (share, download), the site records an event on our own server. Each event may include the page path, the referring URL, your browser’s user-agent string, the type of sign involved, and the non-personal parameters of that sign (for example a speed limit of 55).
We do not store your IP address. To count unique visitors without identifying anyone, each event carries a one-way fingerprint — a truncated SHA-256 hash of your IP address combined with your user-agent. It cannot be reversed to an IP address and is never stored next to one. This data is used only in aggregate, such as on our public statistics page.
Google Analytics
The site loads Google Analytics (gtag.js), which sets its own cookies and collects standard analytics data (approximate location from IP, device and browser information, pages visited) subject to Google’s privacy policy. You can block it with any tracker-blocking extension or a “Do Not Track” / GPC browser setting without affecting the sign generator.
Cookies
The sign generator itself sets no cookies. The only cookies on the site are those set by Google Analytics. Our first-party analytics uses no cookies and no local storage.
What we don’t do
- No accounts, logins, or profiles.
- The signs you build are not saved to any account or tied to you. A share link contains only the sign’s parameters.
- We don’t sell or rent data, and we don’t share it with anyone beyond the analytics provider named above.
- No advertising or ad-tech trackers.
Hosting
The site and its API are hosted on Vercel, which processes requests on our behalf and may log request metadata (including IP addresses) as part of normal operation and abuse prevention. See Vercel’s privacy policy.
Data retention
Aggregate analytics events are kept to track long-term usage trends. Because no event identifies a person, there is nothing to request the deletion of; if you believe otherwise, contact us and we will help.
Changes
If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above will change with it.
